questions
that I am most frequently asked:
How did you get involved
in Reiki?
I first heard the
word Reiki from a Psychic when I was having a reading. I had
only had one Psychic reading in my life up to that point, but
for some reason I just felt like I needed one at this point in
time.
During the reading she told me that I had been a healer in previous
lifetimes. She said she felt that I had spent many different
lives in healing in one form or another. She asked me if I had
ever heard of Reiki? I had not..........when she asked me that,
I thought it was someone's name!
She told me that I should probably pick up a book and read about
it, I might find it interesting!
A quick note: This Psychic's name is Sadie Jones, from Woodbridge,
Virginia. My guides directed me to her and she in turn directed
me to finding Reiki. Thank you Sadie!
Over the next few months I visited 2 other Psychics and an Astrologer.
They all told me pretty much the same information that Sadie
had, as far as me being a healer in previous lives. One of these
people was doing readings at a metaphysical fair, and as I walked
by her table she looked up from the person she was giving the
reading to, pointed at me and said,"that man is a healer!"
I later was able to get a reading from her and, again heard more
of what Sadie had told me!
At this particular metaphysical fair there was a Reiki Master
giving quick-treatments, and I experienced my first dose of Reiki!
I knew right then and there that I was going to learn Reiki!
A few months after this I had a past-life regression done, and
this became the major turning point in my life. During the regression
the hypnotist directed me to go to the point in time when I was
at my highest personal power. I found myself walking through
some sort of town or city that was surrounded by water. There
were many buildings, rocks, colored stones, and crystals! He
kept telling me to find someone to talk to, but there was no
one there. He asked me what I was wearing, and I could see white
robes but, whenever he would tell me to look down and see what
I was wearing on my feet, I could not see my feet! Just a white
mist, or clouds.
All of a sudden, from somewhere deep, deep inside me came a multitude
of feelings and emotions! In the blink of an eye I instantly
knew where I was! I immediately started crying, sobbing uncontrollably
! I felt the hypnotist lean closer to me and ask,"where
are you?" "I know what happened!", I cried. "It
was destroyed!"
I was in Atlantis!! What I was seeing were parts of the city
where I was a healer in at least 2 lives! What I was feeling
was the pain, sorrow, and horror of the destruction of this fantastic
place that so many loved! The reason I couldn't find anyone was
because they were all gone!
The hypnotist asked me if I had died there? I replied "no,
I knew this was going to happen and I left before it was destroyed.
I saw it happen, but I wasn't there." What this meant was
that somehow I knew of the coming disaster and ascended before
it happened. I was looking down from above when Atlantis was
destroyed. This, explained the hypnotist later was why I couldn't
see my feet during the regression.
Also, during the regression he asked me what my function was
in Atlantis, and I replied that I was a healer, using many different
methods, including stones, crystals, vibrations and sounds.
During the same session I saw that I was also a Mayan Priest
and healer. During this part of the regression I told the hypnotist
that "I've always been a healer!"
It took many months after this past-life regression before I
could talk about the experience without getting choked up and
teary-eyed, and as I am typing this experience for you to read,
I still feel a bit emotional.
Over the next few months I talked to a couple different Reiki
people until I found the person that I felt was supposed to be
my teacher. She turned out to be the same person who gave me
my first shot of Reiki at the metaphysical fair, Reverend Jenny
Lyn Anderson!

Do you ever get tired
or run down from giving Reiki treatments?
Because it is a
channeled healing, the Reiki practitioner's energies are not
depleted. It is not the practitioner's energy being used! The
practitioner is channeling "Universal Life Force Energy,"
the energy that surrounds us all and sustains life! It is the
energy from the "God Source" or, if you are more comfortable,
the "Higher Power!" Because the Reiki practitioner
is channeling this healing energy, he/she receives the benefits
as well! Whenever I finish giving a Reiki treatment my energy
level is up and I feel surrounded with feelings of love and contentment!
Is Reiki hard to
learn?
No, anyone can
learn Reiki! It doesn't take a long time to learn,( you can learn
Reiki 1 in a weekend), you don't have to be genius status or
have an abundance of talent. Just the desire. The knowledge and
energy is then passed from teacher to student.
Does Reiki have anything
to do with religion?
Reiki is not a
religion. It beholds no doctrines, creeds or contradictions to
the Universal Laws of Consciousness and Love. Reiki is very spiritual
in nature, but there is nothing you are required to believe in
before you can learn and use Reiki. In fact, Reiki will work
whether someone believes in it or not!
When you are giving
someone a treatment, what are you feeling? How do you know the
energy is flowing?
For me personally,
once I place my hands on someone, usually within 10 to 15 seconds
my palms will start to pulse and my hands will become hot. This
will continue for the whole treatment. Over different parts of
the client's body my hands may feel like they are extremely hot!
I've had people reach up and touch my hands when this happens,
only to find that my hands feel normal! I've had a few people
who have felt cold sensations on different areas! But for the
most part, I feel the pulsing and the heat. There have been several
times when I have had to stop for a moment and rinse my hands
under cold water because they have gotten so hot!
Can Reiki be used
with other therapies?
Yes, it can be
combined with other therapies very successfully. Reiki is completely
safe and it activates natural healing energy within us. It will
enhance the effects of other complementary healing arts such
as massage, acupuncture, acupressure, shiatsu, polarity, foot
reflexology, aromatherapy, chiropractic, color therapy, homeopathy
and many others. Many practitioners of other modalities have
reported that their work has intensified since learning Reiki.
I've just been initiated
into Reiki Level I, how long must I wait before proceeding to
Level II?
I'm sure there
are many different views on this. I was taught that you should
wait a minimum of 3 months before proceeding to the next level.
The reason for this being that: first, the attunement process
in each of the three degrees will start a 21 day cleansing period
during which any physical, emotional, mental or spiritual blockages,
and any old negative energy is brought forward and released.
This is due to the raised vibratory rate of both the physical
and etheric bodies. It is a time that your body is adjusting
to the higher life force energy vibration of that degree, and
you will experience self-healing reactions. This cleansing process
and the reactions that may follow are different for everyone
and may include irritability, emotional and/or physical changes,
changes in your tolerance for certain foods or a change in your
dreams. On the average it takes 3 days for the Reiki energy to
complete the adjustments on each of the chakras, so this process
will last 21 days.
Secondly, you must take the time to practice using your new "gift".
Give Reiki to family members, pets, plants, and yourself. Gather
as much experience as you can. The more you use Reiki the stronger
it will become. Also, you must allow your body ample time to
process this new energy vibration.
Well, that made
perfect sense to me, and I followed those guide lines for quite
some time. One day a new student asked me, after just taking
level I, if she could take level II the next week-end? She explained
that she was going back to school in a about a month and a half
and at that point she was not going to have much free time, and
wanted to become a Reiki master while she was on break. I decided
to go ahead with it. She took level II the next week-end, and
2 weeks after that took the level III - Master class.
Since then I have left it totally up to the students. Bottom
line is...YOU know when you are ready to move up to the next
level.
What is a Reiki attunement?
A Reiki attunement
is the process by which a person receives the ability to channel
Reiki energy and give Reiki treatments. The attunement is passed
on by a Reiki Master to the student for the purpose and intent
of connecting the student to the Reiki source so that the energy
will flow through them when they wish to call on it. Attunements
are a sacred process during which the Reiki Master will touch
the students head, shoulders, and hands and use one or more special
breathing techniques. The attunement energies will flow through
the Reiki Master and into the student, connecting them to the
source, sort of like plugging a lamp into the wall. These special
energies are guided by the Higher Power and make adjustments
in the students energy pathways and connect the student to the
source of Reiki. Because the energetic aspect of the attunement
is guided by the Higher Power, it adjusts itself to be exactly
right for each student. Everyone is different and experiences
during attunements vary. Some students feel warmth in the hands,
others may see colors or have visions of spiritual beings. Some
might even become a bit emotional after the attunement is completed.
However, it is not necessary to have an inner experience for
the attunement to have worked. Most simply feel more relaxed.
