Reiki In A Group

From the original The Halls of Reiki reference collection.

A practice in community

A group treatment, also called a Reiki share or team treatment, is a way for practitioners and friends to practise together.

A group Reiki practice

A shared practice

Some practitioners find that sharing Reiki in a group creates a focused, supportive atmosphere. As with any Reiki practice, every person’s experience is individual.

An ideal group may include five or six people. Each person can receive around twenty minutes, or about ten minutes on each side. One person lies down while the others offer the practice in turn.

Setting up a group treatment

At the start, the recipient lies on their back. One person can take a place at the head and keep track of time, while the others stand at the left, right and feet. The group can agree on the order of hand positions before beginning, with everyone moving together when the person at the head moves.

When the front is complete, the recipient can turn over and the group may continue at the back and legs. In a group session, positions are often held for a shorter time so that everyone has a chance to receive. Keep consent, comfort and clear communication at the centre of the practice.

Reiki Circle

For a small gathering or seminar, a Reiki Circle lets each person give and receive at the same time. Stand or sit in a circle, with each person placing their hands gently on the shoulders or waist of the next person, only with consent.

Reiki Sandwich

For a group of three, one person can sit in the middle while the other two practise from the front and back, or from either side. The group can begin and close with a moment of quiet, then let comfort and shared agreement guide the hand placements.
